The concepts of our future are created within the sociopolitical dialogue. Any discussions on climate politics, nutrition, migration, Genome editing or artificial intelligence emerge out of the interconnected realms of the civil society, politics, economy, associations, science and media. To lead innovation and shape the agenda you have to take a position.

We help you join the conversation, sharpen your position, develop sustainable networks and visualize your content.

Our Business Areas

Risk Analysis

Analyze. Observe. Adapt.

Drastic change requires drastic countermeasures. 3D-printers, Bitcoin, Clean Meat, precision fermentation, autonomous mobility: you name it. These innovations will inevitably change our society in fundamental, but also sustainable ways. The sustainability goals of the United Nations are further leading to the transformation of our societal values. Every change bears both opportunities and risks. Those who design the future may omit traditional technologies, which might cease to exist anyhow. Our risk analysis consequently seeks to answer the pressing question: are you prepared to meet the demands of the future?

Procedure

Our “Fit Gap” analysis establishes a reliable monitoring scheme for any possible risk or upcoming issue. After a careful analysis of your respective stakeholders, you will get acquainted with the possible interests of your company. The sociopolitical focus of the analysis leads to answers to the following question: is your license to operate ready for the future?

Aim

Know the risk scenario for your business and decide how to address it. The goal is to protect your mid- and longterm business success. Evaluate your strategy and remodel your products or services on time so that you can ensure the prosperous development of your company. As a result, your company will be equipped to participate in the socio-political dialogue.

Positioning

Today. Tomorrow. Shape.

In order to join the public realm of debate, you need to be able to rely on a clearly defined corporate profile and a consistent rationale.

Defining your attitude in formulated socio-political positions will strengthen your role in a media-effective way and enhance your public image.

Procedure

Based on your institutional mission, values, strategy and goals, as well as the fit gap analysis we created, we will formulate a reputation profile that is summed up in a carefully crafted socio-political position paper.

This paper succinctly points out your expectations for the future and delivers arguments towards stakeholders.

It moreover lays out all features which distinguish your company from other competitors.

Aim

You will be equipped with clearly articulated positions and demands as well as a coherent rationale.

You will be able to rely on comprehensive statements, which allow you to act quickly and influence the competitive environment.

It will also lead to a thorough understanding of your organization's responsibility within the wider society.

This basis will allow you to both act and react briskly and vigorously within the public realm.

Conception

Plan. Define. Structure.

Address the right message with the right channel at the right moment to the right people. The effect of your position is based on this triad. The communication concept balances the available resources and means to achieve the greatest possible impact.

Procedure

Define resources and tools in order to reach target groups with your key messages.

Based on an annual agenda with concrete time frames and measures we identify contents and events to create public awareness for your agenda.

Aim

You will receive an indicator-based plan in order to ensure a concerted and vigorous execution.

This plan is the basis for all your public activities.

Implementation

Target. Aim. Hit.

The socio-political dialogue is a special form of communication.

The layers of interest of the civil society, the political and economic realm are not identical. Transporting messages from one system layer to the next requires knowledge of the relevant factors in the decision-making process.

Procedure

We observe the marketplace of different opinions, pursue the right timing of a determined agenda and keep an eye on news agencies.

We draft concise statements, public discourses and campaign materials on time. We help you expand your network.

We analyze the results through precise monitoring and can thus heighten your efficiency.

Aim

Your positions are being published, heard and – in an ideal scenario – adopted.

Your reputational gain will impact the general discourse according to your ideas.

Public Affairs

Contribute. Participate. Shape.

Public Affairs

The „foreign policy“ of companies, associations and institutions is Public Affairs. Public Affairs is the strategically planned contribution of institutions, organizations, NGOs or other interest groups involving processes of political decision-making. It differs from the socio-political dialogue.

Procedure

Bring together individual players, be it from the political, economic, scientific field or civil society. Participate in hearings, contribute opinions.

Aim

Shape the situation at the right moment with the right people. Become a welcomed expert for your business sharing insights and learnings.

Our Initiatives

Wellbeing Index

Quality of Life Can Be Planned

Our Motivation

mfm stands for future at work. An important topic concerning the future is concerned with where and how we want to live tomorrow.

What makes cities, regions, communities or neighborhoods appealing? What makes a good life? Can you quantify quality of life? If so, how? The Wellbeing-Index of mfm seeks to find answers to those questions.

Our Task

Cities and metropolitan areas will house 75% of the world population by 2050. This increasingly begs the question of what causes cities and regions to be attractive; when do people feel at ease in their whereabouts? Which political decisions are necessary during city planning and and shaping living spaces in order to achieve a high quality of life?

Our Contribution

We have adopted the Wellbeing-Index which is already being deployed for more than a decade in the U.S. and Canada as well as some European countries.

The index measures the urbane and communal quality of life according to the Sustainable Development Goals of 2030. As a result, location factors become comprehensible and comparable. However, it also represents a political planning tool so that the correct decisions can be made in cities and communities.

Global Food Summit

Because Food is Community

Our Motivation

mfm steht für future at work.

An important future-oriented topic of the socio-political dialogue is the question how we can facilitate sustainable nourishment in an urbanized world. mfm - menschen für medien is the co-organizer of the annual international science panel, the Global Food Summit.

The board of trustees of the Global Food Summit is constituted by six members: Prof. David Zilberman, University of California, Berkeley; Prof. Justus Wesseler, Wageningen Universität; Prof. Thomas Hofmann, Technische Universität München (TUM); Prof. Martina Schraudner, Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften (acatech); the Bavarian State Government, represented by Dr. Simon Reitemeier, Cluster Ernährung Bayern and Stephan Becker-Sonnenschein, Global Food Summit.

Around 400 participants from all over the globe meet up annually and exchange on the innovative challenges along the food supply chain.

Our Contribution

The majority of the urban population will live in cities. 70% of all food is going to be consumed there as of 2030. How can the nutrition of this growing, urban population be secured in a sustainable way? Where is the food for this growing, urban population going to be produced?

Innovative technologies describe scenarios of food production that will challenge existing systems and processes.

Europe and Germany risk getting overtaken in this scientific race as innovations such as Clean Meat, CRISPR and proteins derived from precision fermentation are not being implemented in a sufficient manner. Regulatory obstacles, but also political stagnation and romanticized ideas define the European innovation process.

The Global Food Summit offers a stage for socio-political discourse focussing on science-based insights. Find out more: https://www.globalfoodsummit.com
